Current Exhibition - Alice Katz
Art/Place Gallery will feature artwork by member, Alice Katz, “Guitars, Faces, and...” on Sunday, June 29 at 2:30 to 4:30 pm. She will talk about her work at 3 pm.
The show will be up from June 23 to July 20.
Included in the show are paintings, sculptures, a wall hanging, and cut paper. Alice states, “I have been making art my whole life. There have been many people in my family with art ability: my mother, my father, my sister, my son, my daughter, my aunt, and both of her children.
I taught art for a number of years in a New York Middle School, then I became a psychotherapist and an author of several self-help books. Now, at age 90, I am focused solely on art in the community and on creating my own artwork. I am an Art/Place member, a curator for the Kershner Gallery, and I publicize art events for both groups.
For this show, I have chosen past and present work depicting real and imaginary people playing a musical instrument, as well as portraits of various women. My interest is in the wonderful shape of musical instruments, especially many that are from other parts of the world, and on the faces of people.”
